The belgian legislator is firmly working on the Belgian Code of Economic Law. The following draft acts regarding the Belgian Code of Economic Law were recently submitted for debate to the Belgian Parliament:

Draft act on the introduction of Book VI “Market practices and consumer protection” in the Belgian Code of Economic Law and holding the introduction of definitions distinctive for Book VI, and of the law enforcement provisions distinctive for Book VI in Books I and XV of the Belgian Code of economic law);

Draft act on the introduction of Book XVII “Special legal proceedings” in the Belgian Code of Economic Law and holding the introduction of definitions and provisions on sanctioning distinctive for Book XVII of the same code; and draft act on the introduction of provisions related to a matter as meant in article 77 of the Constitution in Book XVII “Special legal proceedings” of the Belgian Code of Economic Law;


In the mean time, the Belgian Parliament also adopted several draft legislations regarding Book XII “Law of the electronic economy” and Book XIII “Consultation”. It concerns:

- Draft act on the introduction of Book XII “Law of the electronic economy” in the Belgian Code of Economic Law and holding introduction of definitions distinctive for Book XII and of the law enforcement provisions distinctive for Book XII in the Books I and XV of the Belgian Code of economic law (Chamber 53, Doc. 2963 – not yet published);

Draft act on the introduction of article XII.5 in Book XII “Law of the electronic economy” of the Belgian Code of Economic Law;

Draft act on the introduction of a title 2 “Certain rules in connection with the judicial framework for electronic signatures, electronic archiving, electronic registered letter, electronic time registration and certification services” in Book XII of the Belgian Code of economic law, and holding the introduction of definitions distinctive for this title 2 and of the law enforcement provisions distinctive for this title in the Books I and XV of the Belgian Code of Economic Law; and

Draft act on the introduction of Book XIII “Consultation” in the Belgian Code of Economic Law.
  

Lastly, the
Council of Ministers of 24 October 2013 approved preliminary draft texts of two acts with a view to introducing Book X (concerning the provisions for commercial agents, pre-contractual information in commercial cooperation agreements, and the unilateral termination of exclusive distribution agreements with undefined duration) and Book XVIII (concerning the actualization of the legal basis to take measures for the management of the economic crisis and the good functioning of the economy). These draft legislations will soon be submitted for debate to the Belgian Parliament.
